Bo: Do you think when Max is 5 or 4 we can maybe get another baby?
Me: No, I don't think so. I don't think we are going to have any more babies. Sorry.
Bo: You're right. It could be a girl and that's too risky.
Buwahahahahahahah!!

6 Year Old Logic
- I was talking to Bo about Sam's birthday and what we should get him. Bo said whatever we get him, we need to get him 3 because Sam does not share very well and we don't want him to fight.
- Mom, I just swallowed a mosquito. Maybe I'll get my blood back!"

The Things They Say
I have not been very good lately about writing down all the funny things the kids say but here are a few of late:
- Bo often refers to last night as "yesternight"
- Bo told me he needed the finger clippers because he had a hang nail on his "toe thumb" (aka big toe)
- Every time Max sees Daddy after it's been awhile (first thing in the morning, when Wes gets home from work, etc) he runs up to him and says in the cutest of voices, "You Funny!"
- Yesterday Bo was pulling down Sam's swim trunks in the hot tub and trying to put snow down them and
I told him we don't play with other people's bottoms or weiners. Sam looked up nodding his head in agreement and said, "Yeah Bo, because they are our projects!"
Me: Our projects?
Sam: Yes, our projects!
Me: Oh, our privates. Yes, you're right. They are our PRIVATES.
Man, I love these kids! :)

Summer Recap 4 - Misc Happenings
Some other things from the past month that I don't want to forget . . .
- Bo had his first cavities and got 3 fillings. 2 on one side, 1 on the other. All on the bottom. He did fantastic at the dentist. It only took 3 prior visits a couple weeks apart to get him to that point but he did great and I am so proud of him.
- Sam is always so concerned about everyone else. Where they are, how they are doing, etc. He always asks, "Where's Grandpa?", "Where's Daddy?", "You OK?", "Kiss? Kiss make it better?" (if I bump my arm or stub my toe or something). He also always has to bring you something if he knows it's yours, like Wes' coffee mug or my DDP and won't give it to anyone but that particular person.
- Bo asked Grandma why she was so fat while pinching her love handles.
-Max has seen 2 eye doctors about his clogged tear duct and is scheduled to have surgery in a few weeks to fix it.
- Bo asked me, "How do cars steer if only their front wheels turn?" Seriously? What 4 year old notices that?!
- Max HATES, and I mean HA-ATES! to get dressed, especially his shoes. I thought Bo and Sam were tough but they were a cinch compared to Max. He will fight and wiggle and squirm and roll and toss and screech and do anything he can do get away. He does not like to be held down or restrained in any way. He always wants to be on the go and being held to get dressed is torture for all involved. It is a wrestling match every time.
-Bo had his first sleep over a few weeks ago. He spent the night with Grandma and had a fabulous time. They played hard all day, stayed up late, and then slept on the floor together. Grandma was sore the next day but Bo was so happy.
- Sam is in a big-boy bed now. It has been and is still a struggle to get him to stay in bed but we are getting there slowly but surely.
-I have always sung Sam songs before bed such as, You Are My Sunshine, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Jingle Bells, Silent Night (my repertoire of songs is limited so Christmas songs are a staple). But recently he has started to ask for songs about Daddy, Daddy's Truck, Bulldozers, his dresser, Grandma's House, 4-wheelers, Nana, Bo, Choo-choos, Tom & Jerry . . . you name it, I've sung about it and believe you me, they are not pretty. And since my musical ability is retarded at best, every new song is to the tune of an existing song. Here are some of his favorites:
Daddy Loves You - is to the Barney song
I love you
You love me
Daddy loves our family
and he works really hard all through the day
so you and I can run and play
Daddy loves Sam
Daddy loves Bo
Daddy loves Max and Mama, so
Let's all run up and give him a hug
And say thank you for being loved
Daddy's Truck - is to Frara Jaca
Daddy's tru-uck
Daddy's tru-uck
Is really loud
Is really loud
We can hear it comin
Up and down the street
Vroom Vroom Vroom
Vroom Vroom Vroom
Bulldozers - is to America the Beautiful
Oh beautiful for bulldozers and yellow back-hoes too
For brown dirt mountains majesty, above the green birch trees
O big diggers, O big diggers, come move this dirt for me
And crown thy good a neighborhood, from street to shining street
Tom & Jerry - is to The Farmer and the Dell
Tom chases Jerry, Tom chases Jerry, hi ho the dairy o, Tom chases Jerry
Jerry gets away, Jerry gets away, hi ho the dairy o, Jerry gets away
Tom gets squished, Tom gets squished, hi ho the dairy o, Tom gets squished

Bo-ism #21
Today while in the car Bo was talking to his friend Brody about Grandparents . . .
Bo: Do you know what Grandparents are, Brody? Grandparents are where you go for the first time and get red hair like me and Sam.

Bo-ism #19
One of Bo's teeth was bothering him yesterday so I told him it was a good thing we are going to the dentist next week because he probably has a cavity. About 30 minutes later he asks:
Bo: What day are we going to the cavity store again?
Bo: What day are we going to the cavity store again?

Bo-ism #18
While eating breakfast this morning and pointing to the fresh lilys on the counter that are still closed....
Bo: Mommy, look! It's hatching!

Bo-ism #17
In response to Sam accidentally turning the volume up on the tv really loud:
Bo: Sam, You can't do that! It hurts my earballs.

My AWOL Excuse
I think this is by far the longest I have ever gone between blog posts. I feel horrible. I have so much to tell and so many cute pictures to share and no lap top to do so (thanks leaky sippy cup of apple juice in my bag), so I am now on our desktop and because I can't remember all the really cute things that have been going on lately, I leave you with this lame update.
Here is what came of mine and Bo's flowers this summer:
June
July
August
*********
We were having the hardest time getting Bo the slightest bit interested in potty training until we found out while camping July 4th that he really really wanted his own 4-wheeler. Ah-ha! As soon as we told him that 4-wheelers were for big boys and big boys wear underwear, he was all over it. Finally a reward worth wearing underwear for. Success! We were stoked.
The original plan was to wait until he was completely potty trained before giving it to him, but summer is running out and we wanted him to get some enjoyment out of the deal, so about 4 weeks ago his dream came true.
It is old, has been ridden hard, and doesn't have brakes but it is PERFECT. He loves loves loves it! And now, even though he is not 100% potty trained (he's about 98% during the day, and 0% at night), we still use it as bargaining power. "No accidents today or you won't be able to ride your 4-wheeler." or "Do you want us to take your 4-wheeler away?" . . . works every time.
*********
And the latest Bo-ism:
Wes: Bo, do you want to wear pajamas or a t-shirt to bed?
Bo: I want to wear a t-shirt and t-pants.

Bo-ism #15
While pointing at a pineapple on our counter:
Bo: What's that?
Me: That's a pineapple.
Bo: Hmmm . . . that looks too sharp for me to eat.
And on a different, less funny note, do you know what he said to me today because I was making him take a nap?!? He called me a "stupid freakin mom." Hello! What 3 year old says that and where on earth did he learn it?! Not good!! Not good at all.

Is That My Birthday & Bo-isms #14
I have been talking to Bo quite a bit lately about his birthday and that it is coming up next week. He understands that he will get presents and a cake and that he will be 3 years old but that's about it. He still does not understand that a birthday is just a day, not a thing.
While driving this afternoon, he pointed out the side window of the car and asked if that was his birthday over there. And then tonight he went over to the living room window, looked both directions and said, "Mom, I can't see it. I can't see my birthday coming." How do you explain to a 2, almost 3 year old, that his birthday is coming but will never show up at the front door?
And then there's the cake. Oh, the cake. I asked him today if he would like an airplane cake for his birthday and he said, "Yes. And trains, and cars, and a space shuttle." Ummm, I do enjoy baking every now and then but I think that goes well beyond my level of expertise. I was just going to make a long skinny rectangle, ice it gray for the runway and stick some toy planes on it, but now I've got to turn into Martha Stewart-Gone-Mass-Transit by next week. Any suggestions?

Bo-isms #10-13
10. While "flying" Bo (me laying on my back with my feet up in the air and him laying on them on his tummy) around we were waving at things as we "passed them by":
Me: Hi dinosaur.
Bo: That's not a dinosaur, that's Nana.
11. After pushing Bo on his trike all around Opa & Nana's sidewalk, front yard, and street for about an hour we were trying to get him to go inside.
Opa: Bo, I'm out of gas.
Bo: (Pointing to Me and Wes) You and you full of gas. Five more.
12. In the Seattle airport on the way home.
Wes: Bo, are you done pooping?
Bo: Not done, Daddy. That's one. Five more.

13. (He has been saying this for awhile now, but I keep forgetting to write it down). If you ask him what his name is or how old he is, he holds up his fingers as if counting to 2 and says:
Bo: B-O, Bo, That's Me.

Bo-isms #7-9
7. Bo has been saying this for a month or 2 now but I keep forgetting to write it down which is strange for me since I crack up every time he says it:
Me: "Did you poop?"
Bo: (With his head tilted to the side and his palms turned up to the sky) "No poop, just gas! "
** I so wish I could get this on video because it's not so much what he says but how he says it. Hilarious! **
8. This, too is something he has done for quite awhile but still ultra cute. Many times when he enters the room he announces himself with his arms up in the air and a big "tuh-da".
** Again, I so need to get this on video."**
9. While playing in the garage tonight, he scraped his shin on the plow of the 4-wheeler and started to cry.
Me: "Are you ok?"
Bo: (As he stopped crying and puffed up his chest) "Yeah, tough guy."
Me: "Did you poop?"

Bo-isms #5 & 6
5. Oct 29, 2008 - In the car today:
Me: Bo, We're going to Sam's Club.
Bo: Bo's, too.
(he thought I was talking about Sam and he wanted to go to Bo's Club)
*And this isn't really a Bo-ism but it's cute and his new question of the week:
"What the heck is these are?"
6. Nov 2, 2008 -
Me: Nana & Opa live in Texas. Where do you live?
Bo: Home
Me: Bo, We're going to Sam's Club.
Bo: Bo's, too.

Bo-isms #1-4
Ok, so like all kids, Bo says and does some really funny things. Before I started this blog, I had been writing them down in a journal I kept in the kitchen, but now I am going to start keeping track of them here.
1. March 2008 - With Wes nowhere around (at work actually):
Me: Bo, did you poop?
Bo: No, Daddy poop.
2. April 2008 - While sitting on the potty trying to go pee, I once told Bo he needed to push his [belly] button to make it work. Of course nothing happened:
Bo: It's broken.
3. Sept 2008 - I had both Bo and Sam in the bathroom with me while I was taking a shower. Sam was in his bouncy seat with the fish/music attachment on and Bo was just playing in the bathroom. Sam started to get fussy:
Me: Bo, can you go make some bubbles for Sam with the fish?
Bo: Okay, Mommy.
A few minutes later Bo comes back to the shower door holding a big bottle of baby soap.
Me: What are you doing Bo?
Bo: Make bubbles Sam.
I looked out of the shower and Bo had poured soap all over Sam's tummy.
4. Oct 2008 - Wes told Bo his stomach hurt so Bo went to the freezer, dug out the ice-bunny (ice pack) and put it on Wes' stomach.
