TX4 - Kayaking

Opa and Nana took us kayaking/canoeing.  Bo and Sam got a little bored by the lack of excitement but it was an absolute beautiful day.  Max loved "fishing" off of Opa's kayak with a string and had a blast.  I loved the sun and the quiet and being out on the water as a family.  I just wish we could have done it more.

October

October came and went as did my apparent ability to blog so here's a wrap up of our month in
 pictures.

Sam had wanted a mowhawk for a long time so I finally let him get one.  He LOVED it.

For Halloween Max was Iron Spider (half Iron Man, half Spider Man), Sam was Snake Eyes from GI Joe and Bo was Steve from Minecraft but never really actually wore the costume so he was just Bo.

We took the kids to the latest Children's Museum Without Walls event where they decided stacking cups was a lot of fun so we continued the fun at home.

Bo

Bo got glassses.  He can see 20/30 with both eyes but his right eye is really weak (20/70). The eye doctor is optimistic that it will strenghthen up with the help of glasses.  Fingers crossed.  No one wants a lazy eye.

We had many sledding playdates with Devon & Aaron.

Nothing Says "Family" Like A Good Old Fashioned Game of Football

The first picture you see when you walk into our house is our last family portrait.  I love it.  It's black and white, framed in a wide black frame and looks awesome.  However, it only has Bo it it.  The last time we had professional family photos taken was before Sam was born.  That's pathetic.

So we asked Wes' house photographer (and brilliant landscape photographer Ryan Black www.ryanblax.com) if he'd meet us out at Grandma & Grandpa's on Saturday to take some candid shots of us.  We know it is nearly impossible to get the boys to all look at the camera and smile at the same time so we decided to have fun and capture the boys in their true element.

Here are a few of my favorites.

*Note - I tried to coordinate our clothes and even bought everyone new shirts that coordinated but 15 mintures before heading out the door Max refused to wear his, Wes did not like his, I didn't really like Sam's and mine didn't fit so everyone is wearing whatever they wanted.  And I love how it all turned out.  We look like us.

Pinky Toe Infection

Who knew a tiny little cut on your pinky toe could turn into this?!  I  had the cut for a few weeks and then it gradually got more and more sore.  Then yesterday Max stepped on it in the parking lot and it just about dropped me.  I screemed like a little girl.  And later in the dayI stubbed it on our rubbermaid tub of trains and almost peed myself it hurt so bad.  That's when I realized there was a red streak going up my foot and I decided I should go have it checked out.  Three IV antibioitcs, a quickly growing red streak and six hours later, I was discharged with an additional 10 day oral supply of antibiotics and a diagnosis of Staph Infection.  Not cool.  And not helping my training if I can't even put a shoe on.  Sucks!

Lapro Choly

Seems so weird to me that I can be sitting here, 48 hours post op,  without my gallbladder and not feel like its missing. Serously.  It has been with me for 33 years and then poof, it's gone.  I kind of feel like I should have thrown it a farewell party or something, but nope.  Nothing.  All it got after having me cuss at it for 9 months was a first class ticket out of my belly button in a platic bag.  Poor thing was probably just as sick of me as I was of it.  Holy cow.  I hated it.   And despite the fact that I was born with it, I do not miss it one bit.  Sorry GB, no soup for you!!!

Lesson Learned The Hard Way

Lesson: Pushing down a trash bag into the trash can to force the lid to close is not a good idea unless the above mentioned trash bag is full of feathers and definitely not half peeled back tomato soup can lids. Duh! Who would do that? Well a severed nerve, chopped blood vessel, nicked tendon and 15 stitches later (4 inside, 11 out) I definitely won't ever again.
