Memorial Day Camping - Nome Creek

The first camping trip of the year always seems to take forever to pack and load up but it was all totally worth it.  We had originally planned to camp all weekend but 8 weeks ago when I decided to compete in the Fitness Competition, our trip got shrunk down to one night.  It all worked out for the best in the end because it rained all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Camping would have been miserable.  As it ended up, we still spent all day Sunday hanging out in the camper listening to the rain but come Monday morning, the sun came out and the fun began.

We went on a long 4-wheeler ride up the Quartz Lake trail and had a blast.  Sam rode with Daddy.  Max rode with me.  Bo rode with our friend Dana, and Dana's daughter rode her own.  We even had a picnic lunch on top of one of the mountains.  It was a fabulous day and made all the stress of packing and sitting in the camper with 3 couped up boys the day before, all worth it.  The boys did not want to leave.

Kindergarten Graduation

I can't believe my baby is already done with Kindergarten and I couldn't be more proud.  He started the year as a super shy and anxious 5 year old who I quite honestly was worried about but he proved me wrong and thrived.  He excelled in Math and can read with the best of them.  He was the best listener and rule follower in his class.  He liked his teacher, Ms. Todd and even stumped her on occasion with his intellectual mind.  One day they were discussing solid, liquid and gasses and each student had a chance to ask the teacher about a particular thing.  What's a ball?  What about orange juice?  Is a pencil a solid?  But not Bo, he asked, "What is a cloud?"  ???  And that's how he always is.  He has been asking questions since he could talk and wants to know how everything works and why things are the way they are.  His mind is always on and I am quite certain it will take him far in life.  Congrats on the first of many educational milestones, BoBo.  I love you.

STOMP Parade

Fairbanks held it's first ever STOMP (Salute To Our Military Parade) parade last weekend and it was amazing.  The parade demonstrated our appreciation and support for the soldiers, airmen, veterans, wounded warriors and their families for all that they sacrifice daily to protect our nation’s freedom.  Thousands and thousands of troops marched and it was an honor to be there to cheer them on.

Sammy Says #4

Sam kicked Bo today because he was mad at him.  I sent him to his room and when I went in there to talk to him about it, this is how it went down:

Me:  Why did you kick him?
Sam:  Because he turned off the tv in the middle of the show.
Me:  It's ok to be mad.  I would be mad too, but what's a better way you could have handled it?
Sam:  I could have hit him.

Pinky Toe Infection

Who knew a tiny little cut on your pinky toe could turn into this?!  I  had the cut for a few weeks and then it gradually got more and more sore.  Then yesterday Max stepped on it in the parking lot and it just about dropped me.  I screemed like a little girl.  And later in the dayI stubbed it on our rubbermaid tub of trains and almost peed myself it hurt so bad.  That's when I realized there was a red streak going up my foot and I decided I should go have it checked out.  Three IV antibioitcs, a quickly growing red streak and six hours later, I was discharged with an additional 10 day oral supply of antibiotics and a diagnosis of Staph Infection.  Not cool.  And not helping my training if I can't even put a shoe on.  Sucks!
